PASTOR SHANE SCOTT
Since November 2011, Rev. Shane B. Scott has served as the senior pastor of the historic Macedonia Baptist Church located in Los Angeles, CA that has served the Watts Community for more than 100 years. Pastor Scott is a powerful and anointed messenger, teacher and speaker. His voice and unique view into Christian living offers diverse groups a meaningful lens for examining and empowering their lives. By example and edict, Rev. Scott has motivated changed people to change the world. The Macedonian message of being an accepting, loving, inspiring, visioning and encouraging congregation is one that involves a ministry of discipleship, mission and transforming the soul of the community. He says, “We are a historic, relevant congregation with a vision to speak truth to power as we forge collaborations between church and community to exhibit unity as a household of faith.”
Pastor Scott pursued his secondary education at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, AL, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy. He went on to earn his Master of Divinity degree from the American Baptist Seminary of the West in Berkeley, CA with an emphasis in Pastoral Care and Community Development. Pastor Scott has served as the Youth Minister of the historic Third Baptist Church of San Francisco and Youth & Young Adult Pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church in Vallejo, CA.
As the Senior Pastor of the Saint Rest Baptist Church in Fresno, CA, the church experienced phenomenal spiritual growth under his leadership resulting in increased church membership, strategic partnerships, and the development of a Life Center that is destined to become an agent of change in the Fresno community. While in Fresno, Pastor Scott was keynote speaker for the Hip Hop Summit at California State University at Fresno, the NAACP Freedom Banquet and the Annual Martin Luther King March. Additionally, he galvanized the largest town hall meeting mobilizing the city of Fresno to deal with the issue of violence.
Pastor Scott’s visionary and courageous leadership has rippled through the local community and abroad. As a noted guest minister at churches, community events and conferences throughout North America, his progressive and relevant message has reached thousands of diverse populations. While masterful at articulating global issues facing Christians, he also has the wonderful ability to localize the Word to speak to people right where they are. He has been honored to speak for the National Baptist Convention, and the Congress of Christian Education.
As a leader in social and civic organizations, Pastor Scott’s professional memberships include Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and he has served on the Central Valley New Market Tax Credit Board in Fresno. He would like the household of faith to partner in transforming the community through preaching, teaching, evangelism, discipleship and social justice ministries.
Pastor Scott is the proud parent of Miss Savannah Grace, Miss Lily Simone and Master Shane Bernard, II. “Be strong! We are not here to play, to dream, to drift; We have hard work to do, and loads to lift; Shun not the struggle–face it; ’tis God’s gift.” – Maltvie D. Babcock – 1858-1901
